C’est en 1968 que la société Robert Four va adopter la structure qu’on lui connaît aujourd’hui : une galerie parisienne et un atelier de tissage à Aubusson.  Jusqu’alors, les artistes s’adressaient aux quelques lissiers indépendants pour la réalisation de leurs oeuvres et devaient s’occuper de leur diffusion. ..It was in 1968 that Robert Four company adopted the structure we know today: a gallery in Paris and a weaving workshop in Aubusson. Until then, artists had to rely on a few independent weavers to produce their works and had to take care of their distribution.

Visionnaire, Robert Four décide de créer un nouveau modèle d’entreprise. Fort de ses 2 entités, galerie et manufacture, Robert Four se rapproche de la communauté artistique, et assure la réalisation jusqu’à la vente des tapis et tapisserie des artistes de sa propre édition. Pour faciliter le dialogue entre l’artiste et l’artisan lissier, Robert Four crée un Alphabet Tissé, présentant multitude de combinaisons de couleurs, traduisant dégradés, inventant tavelés et effets de textures. ..A visionary, Robert Four decided to create a new business model. With his two entities, a gallery and a factory, Robert Four is closer to the artistic community, and ensures the realization and sale of the carpets and tapestries of the artists of his own edition. To facilitate the dialogue between the artist and the weaver, Robert Four creates a Woven Alphabet, presenting a multitude of colour combinations, translating gradations, inventing slashes and textural effects.

Rapidement, le succès de l’entreprise conduit Robert Four à développer et à diversifier son activité. Il ajoute au tissage la restauration de tapisseries anciennes et de cartons d’époque, une collection de tapis de savonnerie et de tapisseries d’époque. Il construit sa propre teinturerie, intégrée à sa ligne de production, et propose plus de 800 couleurs et leurs multiples combinaisons. Anticipant la concurrence des tapis dits « d’Aubusson » , venus d’ailleurs à moindre coût et loin des codes artistiques d’Aubusson, Robert Four décide alors, pour préserver son savoir-faire et ses emplois, d’ouvrir deuxième atelier à Tunis, sous contrôle de son chef d’atelier et Lissier d’Aubusson. ..The success of the company quickly led Robert Four to develop and diversify his activity.
